What is Equine Body Work?

An Equine Body Worker or EBW is trained in EQUINE MASSAGE, STRESS POINT THERAPY and PASSIVE STRETCHING techniques. This is beneficial for all horses from international competition horses to happy hackers or retired veterans.

Regular massage is a way to relieve the muscular stiffness which the horse's work can cause. It improves performance and shortens recovery time from injuries.

Why does my horse need Equine Body Work?

It's hardly surprising that horses often suffer from a variety of problems because the moment we climb onto our horses back we are asking him to do something unnatural.

The horse is not designed to carry our weight and this alone can cause untold damage to the soft tissues as he tries to adapt and rebalance himself under the weight of his rider. On top of this we then ask our horses to work on hard or uneven ground, put up with novice riders bumping around on their backs, jump for us, work in collection and even dance to music.

Along with the regular stresses and strains of a horses life illness, joint problems, disease, ill-fitting tack, injury through trauma, stress and over-exertion through performance, digestive upset, bad shoeing and dentistry are other examples that can lead to issues and strains which, once properly diagnosed by a veterinary surgeon, can be relieved by massage.
